Partnering strong family values with a wealth of experience
In November 2017, the founders of The Martins Funeral Directors, Peter and Jenny Martin, made the very difficult decision to retire after 50 years of serving the community. Under new ownership, The Martins has continued to provide the personal and professional service for which they were renowned, with the emphasis being on personal service and care. The team devote themselves to giving professional help and support to the community at all times, either in the client’s home or at our funeral home.
In seeking a new proprietor, the main consideration was to find someone with experience, compassion and traditional values. Having spent his late teens working in elderly care as well as an independent funeral director, Alex Jones opened his own funeral directors in 1996 – a truly independent, family-run business. Alex wanted to create a dignified personal funeral directors at a time when many of the small companies had been taken over by large multinational groups – this empathy and understanding made him the ideal person to continue the work of The Martins.
